Three dog-friendly features that may help sell your home
I recently sold one of my listings in 48 hours. It had a great floor plan, a big backyard and a beautiful pool. But later, the buyers confided that it was the two little doggie doors into the backyard that sealed the deal.
When you put your home on the market, you want to make sure you play up every possible positive feature about your house. And for many buyers, being dog-friendly is a big plus! More than 1/3 of all households in the U.S. include dogs. That’s more than 43 million! Here are three things you want to make sure buyers know.
First, does your home have a fully-fenced backyard? Make sure your Realtor highlights that in the listing. That’s very desirable for most families with dogs. Tile floors? Another big plus for most fur parents. Are you close to a dog park? Make sure potential buyers know.
Second, do you have tile floors? That’s another big plus for most fur parents. Accidents happen and they’re easier to clean up on tile.
Finally, are you close to a dog park? Make sure potential buyers know. Dogs are social animals and so are most of their owners. The convenience of a nearby dog park could give your home a leg up on the competition.
Bottom line: Sometimes it’s okay to be in the doghouse!
